About Us

The idea for a Scandinavian school was born at a weekly playgroup at the Norwegian Seaman’s Church. Scandinavian parents living abroad wanted a place to support their home languages, continue traditions from their childhoods, and give their children a Scandinavian preschool experience.

The Scandinavian School opened its doors as a full-time preschool in January of 2005. Since then, it has transformed from a single program with a core of dedicated workers into a growing educational center with a reputable preschool, adult language classes in all three languages and part-time cultural programs and activities for kids and adults.

The Scandinavian School strives to bring the best of Scandinavia and the United States together. The school is proud to serve children and adults from many backgrounds dedicated to learning and continuing the culture and traditions of Scandinavia. All programs are conducted entirely in the three Scandinavian languages.
