Our Staff

Mimmi Skoglund
Mimmi is our preschool Director. She also works in the Goldfish classroom. She comes from a multicultural background being a Norwegian citizen, born in Sweden with a mother from Estonia and a father from Norway. She grew up in France and Belgium and later on moved back to Sweden. She holds a Bachelor’s Degree in early childhood education and has worked with children in different settings both in Sweden and the US since 1991. In 1999 she and her husband moved to the US. With her two children as inspiration and a deeper understanding of being in a multicultural family and environment she was part of founding the Scandinavian School in San Francisco.

Johanna Nordwall
Johanna, our Administrative Director, moved to San Francisco from Sweden in 1998 and has been involved in the Scandinavian School since 2004. She holds a Bachelor’s degree of Education from Gävle University, Sweden, and received her Early Childhood Certificate from American College and her Educational Administration Certificate from Phoenix University. Johanna has 15 years of teaching experience, both in  Sweden and in the US. Just before joining The Scandinavian School she was a teacher at the Swedish School in Los Gatos. Johanna has two children, Josefine (2000) and William (2003).

Oscar Boberg
In 2008, Oscar moved to San Francisco from Vimmerby in Sweden. From the world of Astrid Lindgren to the Bay. Needless to say, the change in circumstances was quite remarkable. In Vimmerby, Oscar worked as a supervisor and project manager at a printing house, did a lot of graphic design and magazine production. Life in San Francisco has been a nice change for Oscar from the slow pace of rural Sweden, to the possibilities of California. Oscar enjoys back country hiking, and every long weekend off he tries to spend in one of the many National Parks in the area, his favorite so far is Kings Canyon.

Anna Walldorf
Anna moved to San Francisco from the south of Sweden in 2009 and started at the school in September that year. In Sweden, she was a web content manager, but have many years of experience with kids and in teaching. Anna works in both classrooms.

Helena Brogren-Tierney
Helena grew up outside of Gothenburg, Sweden. She holds a Child Development Teacher Permit from California Commission on Teacher Credentialing and studied Child Development at CCSF, CA and NCC,CT. Helena has been at the Scandinavian school since August of 2005, and prior to that taught at preschools in San Francisco for 6 years and Westport, CT for 2 years. Helena has two children, Leon (born 2005) is a SSSF graduate and Hugo (born 2009) is currently enrolled as a Goldfish. Helena is working part-time as a PreK teacher with the White Shark- and older Dolphin class.

Camilla Nyrup Madsen
Camilla grew up in Kolding, Denmark and holds a Bachelor in Education from Pædagoguddannelsen, JYDSK in Aarhus, Denmark. She worked at the Scandinavian School 6 months as a student in 2009 and came back in 2010 when she had finished her BA. From January 2011 – October 2011 Camilla worked with developmentally and mentally handicapped people at a housing facility in Denmark. She returned to the Scandinavian School November 2011 and is a teacher at Stora Blå.

Carina Edland Mortensen
Carina has a bachelors degree as a preschool teacher from the University of Stavanger, Norway, where she is from. Carina came to SF bay area in July 2010 and started volunteering at the Scandinavian School in November 2010. She started as a full time teacher in the fall of 2011.

Christina Lim

Christina Ansteensen
Christina has a background of being both Norwegian and Danish. She grew up in Drammen, Norway, but has lived and worked in Copenhagen her whole adult life and is therefore fluent in both languages. She does consider Danish to be her primary language and this is her preferred language at the Scandinavian School. Christina holds a bachelors degree in Social Education from Gentofte National Institute of Social Education. During her studies, she worked at the Danish Red Cross Youth as a youth advisor, and did her practical training in South Africa, facilitated educational programs for projects for street children. For the past six years she worked as a preschool teacher in Copenhagen. She moved to San Francisco with her Danish husband in November 2011 and is a teacher in the Goldfish Classroom.

Emmet Grahn-Hoyt
Emmet is originally from Gothenburg, Sweden and holds a degree in Graphic Design. She has many years of experience from the restaurant business where she worked as a waitress, bartender and assistant night club manager. She came to San Francisco for advertising studies in Oct 2009 after doing her first year in Hamburg, this was followed by three months in Buenos Aires and she graduated in Sept 2010. She also studied one year at Göteborgs Universitet to become a teacher in Swedish and English for children aged 13-16. Emmet works full time in the Stora Blå classroom.

Jesper Klinghed

Siv Anita Mork
Siv Anita grew up in Molde, Norway. She studied at Cal State University, Northridge and have received a B.A. in Psychology. She’s been living in the US since 1998 and started working at SSSF as a Full- Time teacher in August 2006. Siv has two children, Aidan (born 2006) and Preben (born 2010) that has previously attended SSSF. Siv works full time and is currently a Goldfish Teacher.

Åsa West
Åsa is originally from Järfälla, Sweden and has lived in the Bay Area since 1991. Åsa has been involved in the Scandinavian School since 2002 both as a parent and board member. She received her Early Childhood Education certificate at Merritt College in 2006. She has been working as a teacher at SSSF since February 2005. She is currently a teacher at Stora Blå.
