Our Staff

Mimmi Skoglund

Mimmi is our preschool Director. She also works in the Stora Blå classroom. She comes from a multicultural background being a Norwegian citizen, born in Sweden with a mother from Estonia and a father from Norway. She grew up in France and Belgium and later on moved back to Sweden. She holds a Bachelor’s Degree in early childhood education and has worked with children in different settings, both in Sweden and the US since 1991. In 1999, she and her husband moved to the US. With her two children as inspiration and a deep understanding of being in a multicultural family and environment she was part of founding the Scandinavian School in San Francisco.

Johanna Nordwall

Johanna, our Administrative Director, moved to San Francisco from Sweden in 1998 and has been involved in the Scandinavian School since 2004. She holds a Bachelor’s Degree of Education from Gävle University, Sweden, and received her Early Childhood Certificate from American College and her Educational Administration Certificate from Phoenix University. Johanna has 15 years of teaching experience, both in Sweden and in the US. Just before joining The Scandinavian School she was a teacher at the Swedish School in Los Gatos. Johanna has two children, Josefine (2000) and William (2003).

Helena Brogren-Tierney

Helena grew up outside of Gothenburg, Sweden. She holds a Child Development Teacher Permit from California Commission on Teacher Credentialing and studied Child Development at CCSF, CA and NCC, CT. Helena has been at the Scandinavian School since August 2005, and prior to that taught at preschools in San Francisco for 6 years and Westport, CT for 2 years. Helena has two children, Leon (2005), a SSSF graduate, and Hugo (2009) who is currently enrolled as a Dolphin. Helena works with the White Shark class.

Camilla Nyrup Madsen

Camilla grew up in Kolding, Denmark and holds a Bachelor in Education from Pædagoguddannelsen, JYDSK in Aarhus, Denmark. She worked at the Scandinavian School for 6 months as a student in 2009 and came back in 2010 when she had finished her BA. From January 2011 – October 2011 Camilla worked with developmentally and mentally handicapped people at a housing facility in Denmark. She returned to the Scandinavian School in November 2011 and works full-time in the White Shark classroom.

Christina Lim

Emmet Grahn-Hoyt

Emmet is originally from Gothenburg, Sweden and holds a degree in Graphic Design. She has many years of experience from the restaurant business where she worked as a waitress, bartender and assistant night club manager. After studying for a year in Hamburg, Germany, she came to San Francisco in October 2009 to continue her degree in advertising. Before graduating in September 2010, Emmet also spent three months in Buenos Aires, Argentina. In addition to her advertising degree, Emmet also studied for a year at Göteborgs Universitet to become a teacher in Swedish and English for children aged 13-16. Emmet works full-time in the Dolphin classroom.

Jesper Klinghed
 

Siv Anita Mork

Siv Anita grew up in Molde, Norway. She studied at Cal State University, Northridge and holds a B.A. in Psychology. She has been in the US since 1998 and started working at the school as a full-time teacher in August 2006. Siv has two children, Aidan (2006) and Preben (2010) who have previously attended SSSF. Siv works full-time and is currently a Goldfish Teacher.

Åsa West  

Åsa is originally from Järfälla, Sweden and has lived in the Bay Area since 1991. Åsa has been involved in the Scandinavian School since 2002, both as a parent and a board member. She has been working as a teacher at SSSF since February 2005 and received her Early Childhood Education certificate from Merritt College in 2006. Åsa is currently a teacher in the Goldfish classroom.

Rebecca Montag

Martine von der Lippe

Martine was born in Temuco, Chile and was adopted to Norway as an infant. She grew up in Jar, Norway. She has lived in the Bay Area since 2000. She studied at San Francisco State University,San Francisco and holds a B.A. in Child Adolescent Development: Young Child and Family. She has five years of experience working at a academic after school program in San Rafael, California with students in 2nd through 5th grade. She also has experince working at a sailing camp, Tomm Murstad Sjøleir in Oslo, Norway  with children ages 10-15 years-old for three summers in a row. She has been working at SSSF since August 2012. Martine works part-time and is currently a floater teacher, but her homebase is the Dolphin classroom.

Ditte Krause

Ditte is born and raised in Copenhagen, Denmark.  She holds a Bachelor’s degree in nursing  with speciality in Pediatrics. She has been working at the children´s ward at Rigshospitalet since she graduated in 2006.

She came to CA in January 2013 together with her husband Jakob who is a visiting scholar at Stanford and the current plan is to stay here for 1 year.

Ditte works part-time as an assistant teacher in the Goldfish classroom.
