Parent Fika

This year we will be inviting parents to come have coffee with the teachers at the school. In making this a regular thing we are hoping to be able to shed light on some concerns you might have. We also hope this will serve to strengthen the community and to keep an open dialogue between parents and teachers. Below you can find the schedule for when the teachers from each classroom will be available.

Spring Art Show

We are once again putting up our popular spring art show. Last year was a big success and we would like to make this a re-occuring event. This years art show will feature paintings inspired by our Reggio Emilia projects. Pirate Jenny or Captain Sabeltooth might be part of the inspiration behind the Dolphins and White Sharks master pieces, while the Goldfish have been exploring the world of fish and will focus on creating pieces of art around that. From Lilla Rød we can expect abstract creations that will inspire your imagination.

The event will take place at the Scandinavian School on June 2. So put your cheer on and come on down. Doors open at 7 PM and will go on until 9 PM. There will be refreshments and finger food to be had while you mingle and browse the exhibits. There will be bidding to buy the art work and all the proceeds will go toward the school.

Thanks for all your support and hope to see you at the art show.

Concert featuring Longkalsong

The very popular band “Longkalsong” is coming back to San Francisco and will perform for the children at the school on Thursday, May 19! You are all invited to attend this concert with your child, even if your child is not attending on that day. For those of you who do not know “Longkalsong” – it is a Swedish two-man band that sings children’s songs. We have three of their CDs here at the school for you to buy, including the latest one. Please contact Johanna if you would like to buy a CD – the songs are really fun and we listen to them at the school all the time!

Print Cartridge Recycling

We are happy to announce that we now offer printer cartridge and cell phone recycling at the school. In this program we collect ink jet cartridges and cell phones of many different brands and get cash back after turning them in. This means that we would be more than happy to receive any old ink cartridges and cell phones that you might have lying around at home since it will result in money for the school. So now you don’t have to wonder anymore about what to do with your old print cartridges. Bring them by the school and we will be more than happy to take them off your hands. Also if you use ink jet printers at your place of business and don’t have a good way to recycle them we would like to take care of them for you. We do not however have the means to recycle laser print cartridges at this time. For more information about the recycling program and what ink jet cartridges we accept, please visit:
