Swedish Baby Song/Rytmik for children ages 0-2 years old

Class description: This class offers a good opportunity for parents to bond with their children via Swedish songs, rhymes, music, and at the same time socialize with other parents and have fika together. Music teacher Ulla Gran-Knutsson leads the children in the exploration of musical instruments, movement, and Swedish rhymes and songs. Parent participation required.

Baking and Recipe Book Making Class for children ages 5 years and up
Day/time: Saturdays 9:00-11:30 am.
1st Session: 6-Week-Class: February 18, 25, March 3, 10, 17, 24
2nd Session: 6-Week-Class: April 14, 21, 28, May 5, 12, 19
Cost/session: $120
Class description: The children will bake, write down the recipe and draw illustrations for their Swedish Recipe Book. There will be welcome circle time together with the Swedish Preschool Class. At the end of the class they will “fika” with their class mates and the preschool class. (Fika = the Swedish term for drinking coffee/juice, eating cake or other baked goods while chatting and socializing.) There will be outdoor play at the end of class. Minimum group size 6 children. Parents expected to volunteer 1 class/session.

Swedish Preschool Class for children ages 2-4 years.
Day/time: Saturdays 9:00-11:30 am.
1st Session: 6-Week-Class: January 7, 14, 21, 28, February 4, 11

3rd Session: 6-Week-Class: April 14, 21, 28, May 5, 12, 19

Class description: Song and story theme—each class consists of a welcome circle time, art project, snack-time, free play, and farewell circle and story. This is a fun and social class where children get a chance to speak, sing and play in Swedish. The class works as a complement to a Scandinavian home language. Sign up for one session, two, or all three – pick what suits your schedule!

Danish Drop-In Playgroup once a month for children ages 0 and up
Day/time: 2nd Monday every month 4:00-5:30 pm.
Dates: January – June
Cost: $10/day or Discount Punch Card 10 times for $70.
Playgroup description: This is a language support group for Danish parents and their infant/toddlers. We do circle time and free play for children each meeting and coffee and conversation for parents. The playgroup is on the 2nd Monday every month. The Discount Punch Card can be used for both Danish playgroups.

Swedish Language Program for children ages 4+ / 5 years and up
Day/time: Tuesdays 4:00-5:30 pm with early drop-off starting at 3:30 pm.
Dates: January 10 – June 5. No class on April 3 (Spring Break).
Cost: $420
Class description: The main goal is for children to advance their Swedish language skills, and to gain a better understanding of Swedish geography, history and culture. Each class offers an opportunity to work on Swedish language skills, art and craft projects, circle time, free play and snack time. This program is sponsored by Svenska Skolverket and follows their guidelines with curriculum for Swedish children abroad. The children are served a healthy snack. Students should understand and speak Swedish upon enrollment.

Danish K-12 Language Program for children ages 5-10 years
Day/time: Thursdays 3:30-5:00 pm.
Dates: January – June. No class on April 5 (Spring Break).
Cost: $420
Class description: The main goal is for children to further their Danish language skills, learn to read and write in Danish, as well as gain a better understanding of Danish geography, history and culture. Each class offers Danish school work, art and craft projects, circle time, free play and snack time. Students should understand and speak Danish upon enrollment.

Danish Beginners for children ages 5-12 years
Day/time: Thursdays 5:15-6:15 pm.
Dates: Semester starts on January 12, 2012. Each session is 6 weeks long. No class on April 5 (Spring Break).
Cost: $120
Class description: This class gives children who are interested in learning Danish a chance of getting started in a friendly and fun environment. The class is appropriate for children from five to twelve years of age and it is open to those students who know some Danish and to those who have just started learning. The class will give the children a basic knowledge of Danish and at the same time give the children the possibility of meeting other children from the Danish community around the Bay area.
