The classes will be held at the Scandinavian School, 20 Woodside Avenue, San Francisco, CA 94127. The semester consists of 8 weekly lessons – each lesson an hour and a half. The cost is $280 per session plus the cost of teaching materials, approximately $50. The materials can then be used for several classes. There is also a one time registration fee of $25 for first time students.
Upper Intermediate course will have no class on April 30th.

Each year, we have four semesters; two in the spring and two in the fall. You sign up for one semester (8 classes) at a time. Tuition is $280 for 8 classes plus a one-time registration fee of $25 for new students. Teaching material is approx. $50.

The Classes
Beginner 1:
This is a class for the student with no prior knowledge of the language. Focus will be on basic pronunciation, grammar and simple communication in typical everyday situations.
Beginner 2:
This is a class for the student with basic knowledge of the language. Focus will be on basic pronunciation, grammar and communication in typical everyday situations. This class is for students who have completed beginner 1.
Intermediate 1:
This is a class for the students who have finished Beginners II or the equivalent. We will work on grammar and on increasing our vocabulary, but we also speak more Swedish and work on our listening skills.
Upper Intermediate:
This class is suitable for students who have already taken Intermediate II or equivalent. The focus of this class is to improve our speaking and listening skills. We want to be able to express ourselves in more complex sentences and through movies, songs and more advanced texts, we also learn new vocabulary and more advanced grammar.
Advanced:
This class is suitable for students who have already taken Upper Intermediate or equivalent. The focus of this class is to improve our speaking and listening skills. We want to be able to express ourselves in more complex sentences and through movies, songs and more advanced texts, we also learn new vocabulary and more advanced grammar.
Your Teachers
Pia Persson
Pia is a native of Sweden. She has several years of experience of teaching foreign languages to adults and teenagers.
Anne-Louise Pettersson
Anne-Louise holds a Master’s degree in education from the University of Stockholm, Sweden. She has several years of experience in teaching foreign languages to adults and teenagers.
Monika Stahler
Monika is a native of Sweden. She worked as an ESL teacher for 7 years before she started working at the Scandinavian School, where she has worked for 3 years. Besides teaching Adult Swedish language classes, she also teaches the Swedish after school program for children on Tuesdays, the Swedish preschool program on Saturday mornings, and she is the Cultural Programs Coordinator at the school.
