Do you have previous experience with one of the Scandinavian languages but aren’t quite sure which course level is right for you? We recommend taking our free placement test to get a clearer picture of your current skills.

The test will help you identify your strengths and areas for improvement. Based on your result, you’ll be able to see your appropriate course level here below

Course Levels

No previous experience: Beginner level (1a+b, 2a+b) First year

  • For students with little or no prior knowledge of Danish

  • Focus on pronunciation, grammar, and basic everyday communication

  • Students learn to introduce themselves, ask/answer simple questions, and understand basic texts

  • Includes cultural context

Test score A1: Intermediate level (1a+b, 2a+b) Second year

  • For those who have completed Beginner level or have equivalent experience

  • Expands vocabulary and skills for routine interactions

  • Students can understand common expressions, and join short conversations

Test score A2/B1: Upper Intermediate level (1a+b, 2a+b) Third year

  • Suitable for learners with about two years of study or equivalent background

  • Focus on conversation practice, grammar review, and diverse topics

  • Enables students to manage social/professional interactions, grasp main ideas in clear speech, and write connected texts

Test score B2: Advanced level Fourth year

  • For learners with strong foundational knowledge or around three years of previous study

  • Develops fluency, complex grammar, and listening through discussions and varied content

  • Students become able to speak fluently, understand detailed speech, and write structured arguments

Test score C1: Conversational level

  • Designed for fluent speakers

  • Focus on refining fluency and accuracy via discussions on news, TV, and podcasts

  • Students learn to debate, express nuanced opinions, and comprehend complex texts
